Principle :

In this process, the sample is combusted at high temperatures (typically 900-1050°C) in an oxygen-rich environment. The combustion breaks down the sample, converting carbon into carbon dioxide (CO₂), hydrogen into water (H₂O), and sulfur into sulfur dioxide (SO₂).
Detection :
After combustion, the resulting gases (CO₂, H₂O, and SO₂) are separated and detected using appropriate detectors:
Carbon: CO₂ is detected using an infrared (IR) detector.
Hydrogen: Water (H₂O) is often measured using a dew point detector or infrared absorption.
Sulfur: SO₂ can be detected by a fluorescence detector or catalytic combustion methods.
